From the beginning we knew it was going to be a good day.
Winter was happy the entire time and truly loved seeing all the animals. At times it was harder to explain than I thought, that she couldn't touch and hold all of them. The large glass walls between her and the animals helped.

We have taken on the very large task of a garden this summer. When I say large, I am not exaggerating.


In our garden we have over 140 tomato plants, 4 rows of corn, several pepper plants (both green and hot,) a bunch of watermelons, 4 rows of beans, zucchini, and squash . There are a few others too but they aren't making it through the weather changes of beginning summer. We do have a little bit of help. My friend and neighbor Haley has been great, from helping us get everything planted to keeping it watered.
It is my goal to can as much as possible.

With a summer of possibilities laid out in front of us, Cory thought it would be a good idea to reflect back on all the traveling we have done since Christmas time. For a winter get away and family time with my eastern relatives, my parents were gracious enough to fly us to Florida. It was really nice, although not nice enough to get in the ocean. We did get to go to Disney World (which doesn't hold the same magic when you are an adult,) Ponce Point, and we spent lots of time with my grandparents. My favorite part was seeing my cousin Robbie and watching Winter play in the sand. Cory's favorite part was the crazy huge flea market. It had everything in it!

In April we had nice week in Virginia (thanks to my father) to visit with more of my family from Maryland and Virginia. These trips are always full of running around and trying to see everyone and visit with those I haven't seen in the past year. This one was no different. I was lucky enough to see my favorite new baby, Hudson, visit with Sarah and her lovely family, see my sister and Pam and their daughter Kayleigh, visit with my grandmother Dutton, go to the Zoo with my mom, Doug, Jill and my grandparents. Cory and I even got a night out with my friend Emily and her honey Corey. I know, as if we don't have enough people with that name! I was very lucky this time to get lots of time with friends and family. Cory was amazingly patient and helpful with all the running around. Winter did very well too. She had no adjustment period for sleeping back in a crib for a week. She enjoyed seeing everyone and really loved spending time with her little friend Max. Thank you to everyone who helped make our time wonderful and busy ;)

Las Vegas was for work in the beginning of May, but Cory and Winter came with me so it was like a little mini trip for us. I was at training and a seminar during the day, but at night we got to see and eat lots of fun places. Cory and I both agree that the Rio buffet was our favorite, yummy. It is a huge buffet that you could easily fill your plate several times (and we did) with food from all around the world. The funniest thing was there were all these Asian people eating there that night, but they were only eating from the Asian food section. Cory and Winter kept themselves entertained during the day by going to the pool and visiting the M&M factory. We also went to Mandalay Bay to see the aquarium and to try their seafood buffet. Because it was right before our anniversary, we decided this was how we would celebrate.

As if all that traveling wasn't enough, we already know of two other trips planned before the end of the year. As well as my mom and Jill are planning a trip out here to Utah in August. I'll keep you posted.

The Story of Us

It all began at Weber State University. The unlikely school of choice for a girl from the east coast, started a beautiful life that has brought us together, brought the world an amazing Winter, and more importantly brought a happiness to the lives of many people. We both tell the story a little different, but we both know how it happened. Right after I returned from Virginia after Olympic Break, there he was waiting for me in our history class. I swear Cory must not have attened class the month of January because I never saw him then. After a few classes I learned that we shared a name, he had noticed me too, and then he made his move. Out at the bus stop he asked about some speaker I had seen and he had missed. I introduced myself, told him about the terrible speaker, and invited him to lunch. He swears I paid, I know we went dutch. Hanging out a few more times, he finally asked me out on our first real date. Chinese food, the comedy club, and the whole night spent together. It is the most romantic memory I have and the most amazing date I have ever been on. A lot happened in the next two and half years, but we fell in love completely and were married on May 2004. Winter Adelaide joined us on May 2006 and Ledger's smiling face was born Dec 2008. Currently we are in our second home in Farmington Utah where we have really made a great place for us to enjoy and live.
